This notice explains, in plain English, what we collect when you use frommby, why we collect it, and what you can do about it.
Last updated .
The short version. If you join our waitlist, we store the name, email, postcode, role (producer or shopper) and any notes you give us, so we can let you know when frommby is live in your area. We don't sell your data, run ads, or share it with anyone we don't have to. You can ask us to delete it at any time by emailing hello@frommby.com.
Who we are
The "data controller" — the company responsible for your data — is Gamma Epsilon Ltd, a company registered in England & Wales (company number 16534367), with its registered office at Coach House, Tibbs Farm, Udimore Road, Udimore, Rye, England TN31 6AR. We trade as frommby.
If you'd like to get in touch about anything on this page, email hello@frommby.com.
What we collect
frommby is at an early stage. Today the only personal data we collect is what you give us when you join our waitlist:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your UK postcode (we use this to work out which area you're in)
- Whether you're a producer or a shopper
- If you're a producer, your business or farm name (optional)
- Any notes you choose to leave us about what you make or what you'd like to buy locally (optional)
When you submit the form, we send your postcode to postcodes.io to convert it into approximate latitude and longitude. We store those coordinates alongside your record so we can later match producers to shoppers nearby.
We do not currently use analytics, advertising cookies, or tracking pixels. If that changes, we'll update this page before turning anything on.
Why we're allowed to hold it
Under UK GDPR, we rely on two lawful bases:
- Consent — you actively choose to submit the form and give us your details. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Legitimate interests — we have a small, proportionate interest in being able to contact people who've asked to hear from us when we launch in their area.
How we use it
- To get in touch when frommby is available in your area.
- To gauge demand in different postcodes so we can decide where to launch first.
- To improve the product based on the notes you leave us.
- To respond if you contact us.
That's it. We don't sell your data and we don't share it with advertisers.
Who we share it with
We use a small set of trusted suppliers to run the service. They only process your data on our instructions, under their own data protection terms:
- Supabase — our database and storage provider. Your waitlist record lives here. We use Row Level Security so the public site can only insert new records, never read existing ones.
- Vercel — hosts the frommby website and runs the server-side code that handles your form submission.
- postcodes.io — receives your postcode (only) to return its coordinates. It does not receive your name or email.
We may also have to share information if we're legally required to — for example, in response to a valid court order.
Where it's stored
Our Supabase project is hosted in the European Union. Vercel may process requests at edge locations worldwide, but waitlist data is only written to our EU-region database.
How long we keep it
We'll keep your waitlist record until either (a) we've launched in your area and you've had a reasonable chance to take up the invitation, or (b) you ask us to delete it. If you go quiet for an extended period after launch, we'll remove your record automatically.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct anything that's wrong.
- Ask us to delete your data (the "right to be forgotten").
- Ask us to stop or restrict using your data.
- Object to our use of your data.
- Withdraw your consent at any time.
To do any of these, email hello@frommby.com. We'll respond within a month.
If you think we've handled your data badly, you can also complain to the UK's Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Cookies
frommby currently uses no cookies for analytics, advertising, or tracking. Vercel may set a small number of strictly-necessary operational cookies to keep the site running. We'll update this section before adding anything else.
Keeping your data safe
We take a careful approach to security — see our security page for the technical detail. If you believe you've found a vulnerability, please email hello@frommby.com.
Changes to this notice
If we change anything material — for example, what we collect or who we share it with — we'll update the "last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, get in touch directly.
